Plaza Café occupies the ground floor of the NJV Athens Plaza, on Syntagma Square, and has long worked as one of the city's fixed meeting points: morning coffee with the newspapers, a business lunch, a drink before the theatre. Its renovation kept that role and changed the mood, trading hotel-lobby neutrality for something closer to a club room, with dark stone tables, banquettes along the walls and tall pleated curtains washed with light from below. The CRUZITA dining armchairs set the tone, rounded and generously upholstered, the kind of seat that lets a meeting run over. Along the glass front, DOVELL WB stools line a high counter that looks straight onto the square, the best place in the room to watch Athens go by. It remains what it has always been, the living room of the city centre, only better dressed.
