On a quiet estate above Planos in Zakynthos, Artisan Villa is a private four-bedroom retreat that wears its name openly: hand-troweled earthen walls, a sculptural freeform arch and a deep timber pergola lend the whole house a handmade, Anatolian-tinged calm. Everything turns inward to a long pool edged with olive trees and a single terracotta urn, where the soft, monolithic surfaces do the talking. Under the pergola, a CAVALETTO table ringed by woven-back VALLARTA armchairs sets the scene for slow poolside dinners, while a PITTSFIELD coffee table anchors a lounge in the shade of the arch. The restoration keeps the building's drama, patterned mosaic floors, a double-height room and a full-height, ladder-served wall of bottles, then softens it with warm light, lush greenery and intimate banquettes. BARD DE SOL

Bard de Sol sits on the cliffs above Agios Stefanos beach on Mykonos, a small boutique hotel and Mediterranean kitchen that looks out over the old port and the open Aegean. Its architecture is pared-back Cycladic: troweled off-white walls, large-format stone paving and a reed-batten pergola that lays striped shadows across the terrace through the afternoon. Palacio Arriluce occupies a 1912 palace on the Basque coast at Getxo, just outside Bilbao, a Leading Hotels of the World address where the Cantabrian Sea meets the old Neguri district of shipping families. The restoration keeps the building's English historicist character: carved wood library panelling, herringbone parquet, ornate cornicing and a run of weathered stone columns opening onto the marina. Light moves from the panelled salons to a terrace set above the yachts and the lighthouse. Sani Club spreads across the pine slopes and olive groves at the end of Sani Resort, on the Kassandra peninsula of Halkidiki, a beachfront retreat of bungalow suites above a soft Aegean bay. Around its free-form pool the ground is laid in terrazzo and dry-stone retaining walls, a mature olive tree rises from a raised planter, and tall parasols throw shade across the deck. The light is high and Mediterranean, the planting clipped and green. Libertine is an all-day drinkery on a street corner in Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, a neighbourhood bar that runs from morning coffee to late cocktails. Behind a deep-green shopfront the room is pure Belle Epoque theatre: chequerboard tiled floors, a gilt-trimmed back bar lined with globe lights, velvet banquettes, hand-painted walls and a cherub fountain crowned with a palm. Out on the pavement terrace, festoon bulbs and potted greenery soften the edges. Bentwood TH01 chairs sit at the marble-topped tables inside, woven GRENOBLE chairs take the terrace, and a cast-iron PADOVA base steadies a round table by the door.

ONE CAPSULE

One Capsule is a freestanding modular pod set on a timber deck in a planted garden, a compact stay shaped as a single rounded volume. Its microcement shell is broken by a recessed window screened in vertical wood slats, and inside the space stays deliberately spare: a dark microcement ceiling, large stone-look tiles, full-height glazing behind sheer curtains and a line of light at the threshold. Ornamental grasses and young trees gather close around it under a soft sky. An ANDOVER lounge chair sits by the window where the curtain filters the light, and a pair of TUAMOTU armchairs flank a small round table out on the deck.

Teight is a design hotel in the centre of Thessaloniki, a self-styled smart hotel built on a hyperlocal idea of the city, with the Moldee kitchen on its ground floor. The interiors photographed here are its lounges and rooms, where veined stone tops, wide-plank floors, lined drapery and black-and-white views of the city set a quiet, tactile tone. Seating is low and considered, the lighting soft and ambient. A pair of BOLSA poufs sits in the foreground beside a SEAM side table, and a REVIVAL lounge chair rests against the wall where the daylight reaches.

Peach Boy is a specialty-coffee and brunch room in Thessaloniki, a young, graphic café that leaves its shell on show. Plaster walls are stripped back to their layers, the ceiling runs with exposed concrete and ductwork, and a skater mascot mural and white neon hold the back wall above plywood counters and polished floors. The mood is playful and a little industrial. COLLEGE chairs gather at the bistro tables on slim tubular frames, MINDELO tables anchor the room, and a cube-form FERNARDO armchair sits against the patinated wall as a place to settle in for a while.

Noesis is a seafront restaurant and lounge bar on the Piale Pasha promenade in Larnaca, Cyprus, a contemporary Mediterranean kitchen with a strong hand for seafood and an interior that leans bohemian. Hand-troweled plaster shapes arches and barrel-vaulted niches, terracotta dome pendants glow over a tiled bar, fluted bases carry the tables and broad-leaved planting softens the room. Moldee is a bar and restaurant in central Thessaloniki, set on the ground floor of a listed 1970s building and designed around the idea of a fine-dining plate. The architecture is sculptural and restrained: speckled terrazzo underfoot, ribbed plaster panels lit from within, a curved ceiling that carries the light and a fluted bar topped in marble, all of it kept quiet so the food stays the focus. Full-height glazing opens the room to the street. Domes Miramare looks out over the Ionian at Moraitika on Corfu, an adults-friendly resort in the Luxury Collection set on a restored mid-century landmark once tied to the Onassis circle. A timber jetty reaches into glassy water, infinity-edge decks sit behind frameless glass, and private suites open onto plunge pools under timber pergolas, with an old olive tree and date palms by the main pool. Ialna is a boutique hotel inside the castle walls of Ioannina, a restored nineteenth-century stone manor in the old town of Epirus. The renovation kept the building's three materials, stone, iron and wood: rough masonry walls, small black-framed windows set with pressed green glass, a pitched timber ceiling braced with steel trusses, and a stone fireplace, with a curved courtyard bar wrapped around a single mature tree. The scale stays intimate and residential. LA PASTERIA

La Pasteria carries the long-running Italian trattoria into a bright urban setting, its dining room opening onto the concourse with the brand's red sign overhead. AKTI ONEIROU

Akti Oneirou, the Dream Coast, is a beach bar on a sheltered cove in Sithonia, Halkidiki, where a curve of golden sand meets clear water under a steep pine-covered slope. Double sunbeds and square parasols are set out in grids across the sand and along a raised timber deck above the sea, with rope railings and low planting between them. The setting is quiet, sleek and entirely about the shoreline. The whole beach is laid out in MANASSU sunloungers, the model that took its name from this very bar.

Reef & Beef is an intimate steakhouse built around its cellar, a formal dining room kept deliberately dark and theatrical. A backlit wine wall runs the full width of the space, a tall metal-and-glass rack where each bottle glows from behind, and below it a low ledge carries a line of sculptural objects. Two brass cluster chandeliers hang low over white-clothed tables, and a warm timber floor grounds the room. Fonissa sits right on the harbour at Skiathos Town, a seafood restaurant on the waterfront strip where the day's catch comes in from local boats. Tables run to the edge of the marina under a timber-beamed pergola, their wood tops carried on dark metal bases, with a woven pendant and small lamps for the evening and a green screen closing one side. Beyond the rail, sailboats and fishing boats sit on calm water against a pine-green hillside.
